Enjoy these photos by Ed Cooper
In 1961, Ed Cooper and Jim Baldwin completed the first ascent of the Grand Wall on the Squamish Chief. They designed and built unique equipment that was necessary for the ascent, and finished their 6 week effort while a crowd of thousands cheered them on from below. In his late 20s after the deaths of many climbing partners, Ed’s focus changed to taking pictures of mountain landscapes and adventures. Ed published 3 photography books, and also has composed thousands of brilliant images over his many years as a mountain and wildlife photographer. The legacy of his images will be with us forever.
With thanks and appreciation to Ed Cooper’s family for permission to include these photos on the boulder.ing website.
